Here are several things you can do right away!

  1. Open an online savings account at Shorebank. One of the most personally sustainable things you can do is save money, and Shorebank uses your deposit wisely to change the world.
  2. Through a community investment organization, you can lend your money, get it back, and change the world. Go to microplace.com and lend them $25.
  3. Write a snail-mail letter to your government -- clearly they need your opinions. The cost is insignificant, and you should be able to do it in five minutes. (Or an email!)
  4. Keep a zero balance on all credit cards and services (not so easy).
    • This is hard for many people, including the people who work on this site.
    • It's important because when you carry a zero balance every month, your financial life is more secure and the very worst of the financial industry cannot make money off you. This is two-fold sustainability, where you plug the leaks in your wallet and take wind from the sails of the companies causing the leaks. By the way, they are bad companies.
